The Heart of Philadelphia Recap
by James BoneyThis past Saturday night, the American Heart Association held their 55th annual Heart of Philadelphia at the downtown Marriott Hotel. Formerly known as the Heart Ball, the gala brought together nearly 700 attendees to help fight cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 killer both here in Pennsylvania and across the country.
At 1K a ticket, the event itself went a long way towards supporting the cause.
Beginning with a cocktail reception and silent auction, the evening went on to acknowledge the 2012 Heart of Philadelphia Honoree, Daniel J. Hliferty, President and CEO of Independence Blue Cross, and the 2012 Edward S. Cooper, M.D. Honoree was Howard H. Weitz, M.D., Jefferson University Hospitals.
With one in three Americans affected by heart disease or stroke, the Heart Ball helps the American Heart Association safeguard our communities from the devastation of cardiovascular disease -- and it does so in style.
