Philadelphia Fashion Incubator at Center City Macy's
by Tina Johnson
Mayor Nutter recently launched the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator project for the Center City Macy's. A program modeled after Heidi Klum's Project Runway show on Lifetime. Each designer will have extensive training through in-house workshops and seminars. Candidates will design collections and also design a business plan on how they intend to remain marketable. This will be a year long project in the old gift wrap room of the store it is aimed to launch the careers of designers and hopefully keep fashion in the city.
The designers will be selected by six of Philadelphia's local Fashion insiders. Three of the potential designers will be Alumni from Drexel University, Moore College of Art, and Philadelphia University. The fourth lucky candidate is a wild card. Interested parties can view and apply by going to PhiladelphiaFashionIncubator.com
Designers will be selected in January and begining the program no later than March of 2012.
